Picture by Akim Karpach Once again in 2025, Tales of EUkraine took part in the Frankfurt Book Fair , the world’s largest trade fair for books. Hosted by our project partner, the Ukrainian Book Institute , we organised the event Every Child Deserves Its Own Story  on Wednesday, 15 October. The session brought together several speakers who shared their experiences with the project, each representing a different part of the ecosystem involved in TEUk. Alessandra Luchetti , Deputy Director of the European Education & Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) at the European Commission, opened the event by emphasising the project’s importance as one of the ways for the Commission to show solidarity with Ukraine through culture. Tales of EUkraine will be back at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2025. The project, which aims to distribute bilingual children's books in Ukrainian and other European languages to Ukrainian children displaced in Europe, will return to the world's largest trade book fair to showcase the results obtained by European publishers in support of their Ukrainian counterparts and Ukrainian children throughout Europe. On 31 March, Tales of EUkraine returned to the Bologna Children's Book Fair , the biggest book fair in Europe dedicated to children's books. The event, titled “ Tales of EUkraine: Everyone Deserves Their Own Story ”, was organised by TEUk partners, the Federation of European Publishers and the Ukrainian Book Institute at the Next Chapter Café (Hall 29, Bologna Children's Book Fair).  During the event, our colleagues described the project and illustrated its main results so far, putting the book by Victoria Amelina, " The Eh-Eh-Edventures of Excavator Eka ", in the spotlight, also thanks to the presence of Marjana Savka , from Amelina’s Ukrainian publisher Old Lion, and Kateryna Mikhalitsyna , Ukrainian author, translator, and a friend of Victoria Amelina, whose children’s book she edited. Commemorative plate of the Victoria Amelina Reading Space On 11 March , the European Parliament in Strasbourg inaugurated the Victoria Amelina Reading Space in honour of Ukrainian writer, human rights defender, and war crimes documentarian Victoria Amelina. For the occasion, Victoria Amelina's children's book,  The Eh-Eh-Edventures of Excavator Eka , was showcased in the EP Library. Since the death of Victoria Amelina, TEUk added her children's book to its catalogue, and the title was published in bilingual Ukrainian-English version by the Federation of European Publishers (FEP) in the framework of the project. Since the first day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, European publishers have stood resolutely with their Ukrainian colleagues and the Ukrainian people. As we mark the third anniversary of the war, we reaffirm our unconditional support for Ukraine in its fight. During these years, Russia attacked not only Ukrainian's people and military and civil infrastructures, but also bookshops, libraries, and printers, aiming to undermine Ukrainian culture. In the face of such destruction, we believe in the power of books as tools of resilience and hope. That is why Tales of EUkraine exists: to bring books to Ukrainian children and simultaneously support the Ukrainian book sector. The books from Tales of EUkraine continue to be distributed across Greece thanks to our partners from the United Ukrainian Diaspora in Greece, the "Center for Support and Development of Cultural Heritage 'Trembita'" and the "Ukrainian Sunday School Trembita"! On 17 February, bilingual Ukrainian-Greek books published through Tales of EUkraine were distributed in Thessaloniki during the opening of a Ukrainian bookshelf at the Central Public Library in the presence, for the occasion, of the Consul of Ukraine in Thessaloniki Eugene Shkvira together with the first deputy mayor in charge of culture and tourism, Elina Dymantopoulou. Representatives of the local Ukrainian community participated in the event, which was also celebrated with a performance of Ukrainian folk songs by singer and bandurist Elena Rozumn. On 10 December 2024 at noon, TEUk's partner "ABK", the Bulgarian Book Association, presented one of the books published as part of Tales of  EUkraine during the 51st International Book Fair in Sofia,  ‘My Forced Holiday’. The author, Ekaterina Yegorushkina and the translator of the book into Bulgarian - Lilia Zheleva participated during an hybrid event and the project was also presented to the audience. Guests of the event were Mrs. Olesya Ilashchuk - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Bulgaria and Mrs. Anna Tertichna - Counsellor-Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Bulgaria. The event was attended by children and teachers from the Ukrainian Educational Hub in Sofia, who listened to a reading of the book in their mother tongue by its author.
